Ethical Standards
I continue to be a professing Christian, and find that my faith is richer and deeper now than it ever was in my time in the Network.
The standards below are what I believe I am accountable to, with God as my witness. I believe I will give an account to him someday for my words or silence, action or inaction.
The Greatest Commandment
Jesus answered the question, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” with these words:
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
Jesus responds by not just naming this as the greatest commandments, but stating that they are the literal foundation for all other laws. In other words: these are the law. The rest of the laws are simply explaining them in greater detail. Author and Bible Scholar Scot McKnight has famously called this the “Jesus Creed.”
